Serial / IMEI numbers

Some products carry more than one — the unit, the battery, the indoor and outdoor halves of an air conditioner. Record each one.

A link back to the order makes re-downloading an invoice easy later.

Use the date on the bill, not the delivery date. Warranty runs from the invoice date in most terms.

Enter it in whichever unit the warranty card uses. Switching the unit converts the number — you never have to work out that six months is "0.5 years".

Getting a usable photo of a receipt
  • Lay it flat in daylight and shoot straight down — angled photos cut off edges.
  • Check the date, the shop name, the item and the total are all legible before you leave the page.
  • Thermal till receipts fade to blank within a year or two. Photograph those the day you get them.
  • If the invoice arrived by email, attach the PDF rather than a screenshot of it.

Tags that earn their keep

Tag by where the thing is or who it belongs to, not by what it is — the category field already covers that. Kitchen, Rented flat, Mum's and Resale all answer questions you will actually ask later, like "what did I buy for the flat I'm leaving".

Getting a receipt that reads well
  • Lay it flat. A curled receipt throws shadows over the lines you need.
  • Shoot straight down, not at an angle — tilted text is much harder to read.
  • Indirect daylight beats flash, which washes out thermal printing badly.
  • For a long bill, scan the top half first: the date, shop and invoice number live there.

The reading happens on this device. The photo is never uploaded.

Expiry date, pending months and status are not imported — they are
